Yeah, I wonder if I can find a way to automate turning certain news sites’ apis into nostr notes whenever they’re updated. Either way, it looks like there are already a lot of news bots already churning out notes like that indiscriminately.
This all seems so helpful!
I've got a question about "users": For those of us that are just getting started and have a few programs that we threw up on Vercel or Render which a couple of friends are using, what's the next step to making our programs more independent? Is there a way with these services to see how often people are using our software? I'm assuming the next step is just to buy a domain and upload the code there, but the path to that just doesn't seem straight-forward to me.
Oh sorry! I thought you were asking about my bounty specifically. Zapathons are (or maybe were) when everybody on nostr just goes crazy zapping like nuts from 5-7pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
Yeah, I still haven’t got the hang of making things that don’t set off alarm bells on mobile. It’s definitely fine on desktop, and you’d need to be there anyway if you wanted to sign in. The only way I currently have sign in is with the browser extension.
Basically, I want to try to get folks to test zapping on my app. I’ve hard coded it so all zaps are 2000 sats. My client filters out shorter posts. The idea being to encourage folks to save and zap harder on content that’s truly thoughtful.
Yeah, I think the next step will be to make a version that's doesn't have the aesthetic appeal of a pre-teen magazine circa 1992 and filter out all the Mastodon (not even really sure what that is) posts per @StillStackinAfterAllTheseYears's apt observations.
I have a degree in political science from OSU. My focus was on international relations in the developing world and back when I was there (graduated in 2003), one of the consistent talking points was how the IMF and World Bank have really just blanket-bombed those countries with odious debt. The situation was presented so hopelessly that I pursued a totally different career just because I didn't think anything could be done short of the developing world rising up in some violent way.
I didn't discover Bitcoin until 2020, but it is such an obvious peaceful solution to this problem. Maybe most of them have retired, but I can't imagine most of my old professors in that department not putting two and two together.
Love this! There are so many similarities between these guys and the Hopewell culture from the same era in North America.
I haven't seen the tv series yet (looks like it's going to be awesome), but the American copy of the book puts it up front as well. It's such a traumatic opening. I almost didn't read on thinking the whole thing was going to be non-stop horror. So glad I did. It really establishes the philosophical outlook of Ye Wenjie.
I mean, I get why all the talk on nostr is about nostr. But yeah, I wanted to see if anybody is using it for what it’s supposed to be for.
I should also say, I figured this out after checking out tutorials by @jeffg and @gudnuf on ndk. All of my other programming skills, I learned from @bitcoinplebdev’s courses, so any one of them I bet could easily integrate this option into a beefier client in their sleep.
