Reviewing my lightning liquidity.
Really want to get more people on peerswap. Spending only a few hundred sats for rebalances is magical.
These categories only matter from a regulatory point of view. Practically speaking, boxing bitcoin into one or the other doesn't make any sense since it's obviously both and neither.
Nothing. Just a classic "I only understand it at a very superficial level" and then giving up thinking about it any further.
ok, but that wasn't the question. "Fuck you" money is when you can say "fuck you" to your fiat boss and do what you want.
If you're depressed and looking for purpose, for the love of god, don't follow the awful "have kids" advice. Bringing another life into the world and making them deal with your shit ain't it.
I'm currently in a somewhat similar situation to you, and a lot of what you're feeling resonates with me. Best I can do is try to get out and make friends. The local bitcoin meetups have been pretty good for that. Find out if your area has some recurring meetups.. if they don't, consider starting one.
I'm really sensitive to caffeine, so daily coffee fucks me up. After a few months, I start to feel strung out.
I cope by having decaf a few days on, a few days off. Even decaf gets me eventually if I don't have those reset days.
sure "spending doubles" over the course of two decades.. is that enough to keep up with inflation in both the dollar and class sizes due to rises in population? Nah.
Letting users moderate internet forums isn't a new thing and it isn't "censorship". If you want a shitty, anything-goes chatroom, go to 4chan.

Open office layouts are a scam. Everyone I've talked to prefers the quiet and the privacy of having a cube.
It's just a way to pack more people into the same space so the company doesn't need to pay for bigger office space.
The best office environment I've worked in were in bays/quadricles, where a single team sat in a single giant cube, so you can easily communicate while still being closed off from drive-by's. Was really fun because each team decorated their bay in fun themes :)
The twitter people that deem themselves "real bitcoiners" are a minority of a minority. There are plenty of people that own bitcoin that aren't even aware the toxic maxi "culture" even exists. I had to be made aware of it through podcasts.. because podcasters can't seem to shut up about twitter drama. Prior to then, I didn't even know that group of people existed.. and if you tried to talk to any normie about bitcoin, they'd have no idea either.
If you own bitcoin, you're a bitcoiner :)
I only started using Phoenix after they added splicing, and I always have high fees when receiving, but never when sending. If they're not doing a new transaction for each deposit into the wallet, then they're definitely being way too conservative with channel sizing.
We should also be realistic. The 47-year-old meth addict living on the streets is probably not somehow going to turn his life around and create the next Uber. He can either do meth on your front porch, or he can do meth somewhere else. Likewise, prison — way more destructive to human dignity than Wireheading City — is the only way to easily get free food and shelter in the US, and many people misbehave inside because they don’t want to be there.
This is really the long and short of it. SF closed down a clean use space after the pandemic and the end result is now the people doing drugs are doing it less safely, and they're doing it out in the open and shitting on sidewalks. If you don't do some form of harm reduction or other aid, they just do the shit in the streets. If you throw them in jail, they're a massive sink on the system.
I'm not sure a burning man city is the answer, but things have gotten pretty bad, and incarceration and shuffling people around hasn't done shit. Time to get creative.
As far as I can tell Phoenix tries to open a channel (or expand a channel) every single time you receive. It honestly makes it kind of a weird experience for people that are mostly receiving sats. I haven't managed to come up with a solution for this other than withdrawing directly to my node, which already has inbound liquidity available. Unfortunately, this is pretty bad privacy.
I mean.. this is one guy, and everyone in the comments is calling him on his BS. If this were any other site on the internet, it would be a bunch of people agreeing with him and jerking themselves off about it.
I can find equally stupid takes on SN. There are stupid posts everywhere.
I have yet to ever connect this pixel to a wifi because i'm ignorantly hesitant to do so. Shouldn't I be able to never connect it to wifi If i purchase data with bitcoin?
I'm not sure where you're going with this? Why wouldn't you want to use your phone on wifi? I'd argue you have a more secure/private device if you never connect it to a cell network.
