These people are on crack, leave the nature alone or it will come back and bite ya the way you will never forget it (quakes, floods, meteors, etc.) We suppose to live in harmony with Nature, not try to improve it or block the sun for whatever BS reason....
This is sad, market conditions will always change, so what happened? They didnt' plan well enough?
What's weird that it seems that small business are busy (I'm further east) and one can't find anyone for a small (~$50k) project...
Speed, I'm pretty sure it will get there very fast, what's your real speed on 5G today anyway? (it ain't gig I can tell you that :-) and with mobile is always iffy depending on dead spots (or open sky need for sat).
Latency, that's another game and we will never beat fiber latency (simple physics) but the question would be: do you really need it that fast (if you are the stock broker then yes).
It will able to compete? Yes, depending on user's need. It will never beat it (fiber is the king on the ground)
But for many users it will be sufficient. IMHO of course.
He should patent that thing and sell them for $100mil lol
Somehow I have a feeling he wont stop there... more to come from that kid, smart cookie....
Few more years and Elon is gonna put them out of business...lol
We will have sat phones (T-mobile just started) and landline will be a backup... cheap too
That's at least what I project (or wish perhaps :-))
Another reason to run your own stuff if you can (might be "big if" for some), own cloud (e.g. proxmox, k8s) own bitcoin node :-) if you can that is... Then you like the badger, just don't care ...you do you ...
I'm pretty positive that a lot of lawyers look at that agreement to make sure he is covered. The ambiguity of these agreements plus lack of clear regulations (we don't need them is MHO) came back to bite them.
If they knew how to stop him, they would. I don't think they can prove he used their funds to buy it. There are 100's of ways to muddy the waters and IMF ain't clever enough to figure this out. El Salvador is :-)
The fact they try to stop him from buying BTC is even more motivation to get some more, if IMF is pissed it means he is doing something right. No other org can tell him what to do, they can ask but the rest is the President's call.
I kinda like that guy (tyranical or not) his people have better standard of living, Blink wallet is not the worst in the world, he seems truly cares about his people... I wish him and his country well.
We bringing Concorde back? :-) We should have something cooler and way faster by now.
It takes SpaceX to go up to about 100 miles and back in 5-10 min, not sure about the range with some modifications if you go high enough one can be in Europe in 30 min :-)
Wise choice @siggy47, Very soon you will see the "environment friendly" version of it too lol...
I heard that they cost more to produce than they are worth, why we still doing this is beyond me.
The only "coin" we should be using is Bitcoin :-)
I would agree that there is some "worry factor" while even some of us (yours truly included) are not 100% clear on Lighting rules and channel liquidity, it is almost impossible to ask/encourage new guy to participate and have 1 mil sats channels (1M is $1000 mind you) just for buying coffee and movie tickets once in a while.
Phoenix mobile wallet and Blink making it easier for a new folks to grasp or experience the new cool reality but there is a rather steep learning curve and not everyone will make it... IMO. YMMV
Nice explanation, thanks.
That's a lot of assumptions though.
- Only bad guys will have quantum to break the encryption an steal your BTC
- If they can afford to buy or use quantum computer, why would they need to steal your BTC? :-)
- What if WE create our keys with quantum computer, (aka we have the same tools) then we go back to trillion years to find a solution?
Plus, I think we still have some time to figure this out. Quantum is mind bending and I can't wait for the future to come :-)
I bet you a satoshi that he still has "few" of them stashed somewhere that no one but him knows about it :-)
I would be surprised if he didn't. Good for him... He got vilified and spend 10 years in the can. Glad he is out and that he speaks about, good speech in Vegas BTW.
