There's surely more to explore then! Try listening to the podcast deep dive: https://x.com/BitcoinErrorLog/status/1850067213442511107
Could be argued Nostr has more steps, but I suppose that isn't what is important to users either way.
We have holistically approached the problem set and provided this protocol for the world to use a tool if it needs it. Nostr cannot currently offer credible exit, key management, trustless routing, etc.
We would love to see Nostr use some of our tech, like PKARR, to achieve some interoperability with Pubky and add some of these features! It's totally possible, but these are breaking changes that would need to be coordinated across apps.
Take a look at all of the distinctive aspects of Pubky Core and the Pubky App and I think you will notice that we are covering some gaps in the designs of other decentralized web protocols, and also innovating on how we are approaching discovery, etc. You cannot do what Pubky does in Nostr, but there is no reason Nostr couldn't evolve to also support these capabilities, and we hope it does!
We consider fiatjaf and some nostr devs to be peers of ours. Our goal is not to "kill" Nostr or such. We want to grow this segment to include every human on earth. Synonym has had this plan since 4 years, and the CEO has wanted to build something like this for 15 years. We are very proud of this design, and and excited to see how it will empower users that choose to try it!
Stackernews could convert all of its topics and territories to social tags, use the SSG to allow users to filter down threads based on what their peers think, and how they want to weight things.
On the tech side, you could be logging in with a self-sovereign identity while keeping your key in cold storage, and if SN ever banned you, you could pick up again right where you left off from another server.
