Yes, I spend my 2023 aquired BTC now with peace of mind tax free as no captial gain tax after 1 year hodling. Within the first year, since 2024, 1000€ are tax free which is awesome as well.
It has something to do with the "Deutsche Mark (DEM)" which was the Fiat currency West-Germany had before the EURO was introduced in 1999. The D-Mark was what I would call "sound Fiat". Very stable, strong. Many cry after the DEM. In addition, the wall came down in 1989 and all East Germans were able to exchange their worthless communist money at a ratio of 2:1 "only cash is king" so to say.
A country so rich, but yet poor. All presidents ended up in prison. They need a Milei and get f.cking socialims out of their heads.
Germans are traditionally rather economical. It is rare to take out a loan for a vacation etc. In addition, credit cards were not very common until recently. You pay in cash or with a so called EC card (Girocard) which is linked directly to your checking account.
Bitcoin is the only true free 24/7/365 market. Market regulates. It will level out but fees will remain high which is good to secure the network.
Bordeaux Premier Grand Crus from the best vintages (Margaux, Latour, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Haut-Brion) + Pétrus. Absolute scarcity as they can't make more of a specific vintage.
Waiting for the results of the biopsy is the worst part. 20 years ago, I was diagnosed testicle cancer and now the question was how aggressive is this "thing", which stage am I in or is it just a harmless tumor. We had just bought a house and wanted to start a family with children. And then this. It turned out that I "just" had a slowly evolving type of tumor but the affected "egg" had to be removed because it might spread later. In any case, my wife's love was the most important thing during this time and the certainty that medicine can do a lot after all (and one egg is enough to impregnate a woman). I now have two wonderful girls. Look, medicine has come a long way. All will be good, trust me.
Germany: If you have bought and resold an asset (crypto or stuff on ebay) within 12 months, this sale will result in other income. However, this is only taxable if you have made a total profit of at least 600 euros on all the sales you have made in a year. This amount is an exemption limit. If this threshold is reached, your entire profit must be taxed, not just the part that exceeds 600 euros. But: If you hodl BTC for at least 1 year and then sell, all you capital gains a tax free. And that's about it and the only positive aspect in Germany.
The problem nowadays is that we no longer have large families in the West. Older children who look after the little ones, uncles and aunts, grandparents nearby and children who run around with their neighbors for a day. In addition, you have to live in small apartments, both parents have to work to make ends meet and this is only possible if the children can be dropped off at day care. If the child is ill, you have a problem because you have to stay at home and so on. It is exhausting.
I appreciate that Monero exists and for me it's not a shitcoin as it has utility (fast, anon payments, low fees). It's for spending (like L2), not for savings or hodling. It's a tool you should have in your toolbox.
For me it was always: Why does the universe exist? Who created it? If there is a God, who created God? Drives me nuts ...
The question is: Will a fixed money supply lead to economic collapse? And will lending work?
I think that fractional reserve banking is sort of baked into our gens. Our brain will always go for it.
I learned most security related stuff from practicing breaking into CTF boxes. Watch how it is done by a professional pentester ippsec: https://www.youtube.com/@ippsec
Yes, the interview was great. A "running-bitcon" half-marathon is something that can be done with a bit of prep if you run weekly anyway. Should make this an agenda topic on our next local btc meetup ...
