Yea, baby! -- hopefully he doesn't get into any boating accidents between now and the time they want to prosecute.
I took the idea of my book on a coffee date
I really like this framing. First dates have a way of setting off so many mental fireworks.1 I will try this over the holidays.
It's good to hear other people share my sometimes-lukewarm relationship with writing. Having external bosses can be a damned good motivator, as you alluded to.
I do get quite a bit from leaving the ideas to stew with negative capability, though, while I'm pulled by the reins of my life obligations.

these are the questions I imagine I might ask myself: Does the book like this place? Should I ask the book about its past? Should I ask it out again? Am I being awkward? What if the book and I don't get along? What if the book gets away? is the book thinking about me now? ↩
I prefer paper.
But when I don't have paper, I usually rip it from offline and stick it on an old kobo.
djazz.se is a good tool for getting ebooks onto your ereader. Reading from any screen irks me, but eink is tolerable.

The total number of people who died by euthanasia under Track 2 increased by 17.12% from 625 in 2023 to 732 in 2024.

It seems like literally every fucking finance article i am fed on every "news aggregator" I look at now is talking about bitcoin.
Could it be, we are seeing this flywheel because journalists/analysts are increasingly relying more and more on AI, and AI is relying more and more on lazy journalists?
parenting is an identity that I don’t take to like a duck to water.
I think it is a worthwhile endeavor. Where I am from, many folks who might otherwise want to, don't consider themselves 'free' to start a family of their own. It is viewed as, and in many cases is, too great a financial burden.
Avoiding falling prices is exactly the reason we made sure to elect as our dear leader, a central-banker 🫡
