Sadly, using cash by mail is exactly how some people get "caught" a running an "Unlicensed Cryptocurrency Business."

That's what Jayton told me likely happened. He sent cash to a man in California from North Carolina who was somehow involved in meth drug trade and they followed the money back to Jayton.
Jayton had his home raided by a FBI and IRS dual taskforce! They siezed all of his assets, gold, silver, cash and bitcoin that they could find. He told me he had good encryption and backups on his computers so I hope they didn't get too much bitcoin.
Thankfully, Jayton was recently released from prison but it definitely made me think twice about P2P trading in the USA.
Thanks @ek! I really appreciate the follow up. I am trying to use NWC because I think it is a very convenient way to connect my spending sats to my Cashu mint. Although, Cashu.me is pretty much the only software I know of which supports it right now.
Hopefully there will be more cashu wallet support for NWC in the future.
That's not true!
You'll end up with more bitcoin almost every time if you market buy ASAP. Mining will acquire bitcoin at a delay and it will usually be less than a market buy at spot price at the same time you would have bought mining equipment.
Even in the very early days. You could have used minimal power to mine 50 BTC 2 or 3 times a day! However, if you found a seller, you could have acquired thousands of bitcoin for hundreds of USD!
ecash with Cashu is very useful for letting friends and family use your lightning channels you have setup until more bitcoin scaling is developed.
Cashu is more like a gift card than fiat. #397764
On GraphineOS fingerprint is a second factor for convenience. If the phone is powered off the password is still needed.
It also isn't clear what long term effect they have on the head and face. Every electronic device has a magnetic and electrical field around it which does aggravate cells to some degree. Airpods also have RF to add on that. It probably isn't a good idea to have electronic devices on your head for long periods of time. We will know after a few generations.
Jack Kruse woke me up to this. Now I try not to wear any headphones.
I'm late but yes! I self host whenever I can for privacy and not needing to depend on another service so much.

An absolute classic I read many years ago. It changed how I viewed the world and primed me for accepting bitcoin into my life. A must read IMHO.
Thank you for reminding me of this great book!
I'm not aware anyone is forced to use Chivo. The Salvadorian government subsidize adoption by giving out money but nobody has to use Chivo as far as I am aware.
I don't admire politicians. I try to be a sovereign individual. What is the trap I should avoid?
It would mess up the model if you could convince the whole bitcoin ecosystem to send $4.20 and $42.0. Many people like the round numbers of $50 and $100.
I know folks who purchased a new home to be built in El Salvador all in BTC. I think that is pretty amazing. I don't know many other places where that is possible.
You could to in the Brisas of Surf City project in San Blas. https://www.brisasdesurfcity.com/
