After nearly four years of building ChainDuel and deploying it at Bitcoin conferences around the world, we finally launched the new version.

Six days later, here's what happened.

## The Numbers

* **2,213 unique impressions**
* **16.6 minute average play session**
* Players from **multiple continents**

## A Surprise: WhatsApp

The biggest surprise was WhatsApp.

On the second day after launch, the number of WhatsApp link previews jumped from around **110** to more than **1,000**.

Traffic peaked at **860 visitors in a single day**, entirely through organic sharing.

## Built for Nostr

Most visitors came from Nostr. The most common clients were **Amethyst**, **Primal**, **Nostur**, **Ditto**, and other Nostr apps.

The game also saw visitors from countries including Germany, Kenya, Bolivia, Brazil, South Africa, Peru and Thailand, showing how global the Bitcoin community already is.

## We Also Learned Where the Friction Is

The first week wasn't about celebrating. Testing and logs showed where people got stuck.

The biggest obstacle was the challenge eligibility system. Several players reached the challenge screen but couldn't continue because they were missing a NIP-05 identity or hadn't yet followed the ChainDuel account on Nostr.

## This Is Just the Beginning

The goal of this launch was to answer a simple question:

**Will people discover, share and actually play a Lightning-native game online?**

After six days, the answer looks encouraging. Now it's time to improve onboarding, reduce friction, and keep building.

## What V2 Actually Unlocks

### A Real Matchmaking Layer

The biggest addition is ONLINE multiplayer: a full room browser with join codes, spectator support, and buy-in presets. You no longer need to know your opponent. You open the game, pick a stake, and get matched.

This is the shift from a demo to a product. A game that matches strangers has a different ceiling. More players get in, more games get played, and more players eventually move up to the high-stakes tables.

### A Skill Ladder That Keeps Players Coming Back

V2 introduces six ranked Challenge Bounties against increasingly difficult AI, with real Lightning payouts. Starting at 21 sats and going up to 6,900 sats at the top.

New players now have a goal beyond beating a stranger. There's progression, mastery, and a real payout waiting if you're good enough. That story travels.

### A Social Layer That Does Real Work

ChainDuel is built on Nostr, and V2 actually uses it:

* Secure sign-in (NIP-46): sign in with any Nostr app without exposing your key
* Wallet connect (NIP-47): link your Lightning wallet once, pay seats directly, no invoice copy-paste
* Threaded match posts: every lobby, victory, and rematch builds a live Nostr thread around the game

High-stakes matches becoming public events is underrated. It's not just social, it's proof of work.

### Match Replays and a Competitive Record

V2 stores replays for every ONLINE match. Players can review their games, share them, and build a record. That's the beginning of a spectator ecosystem.
