Late to the party, but is it possible to have a first-year discount or some kind of offer or trial? I'd like to give the service a try before deciding to sign up.
It's not that I'm cheap, but I'm a software developer who likes when a service is run as a tight ship and prefer to try things firsthand.
Thank you!
Great writing. This and your last post are pure gold bitcoin.
I must admit at first I wasn't convinced with your writing skills (been lurking in the BTC space for quite some time) but it's really great now, and I consider myself hard to impress. I do a lot of geoarbitrage too -- the funniest part is now my fiat-minded, nationalistic friends always say how I shouldn't be moving around places -- just to quickly start criticizing how stuff doesn't work in their own country.
One question, where do you find good, affordable people willing to work for sats? I've tried here and a few other places; it didn't went terrible but it wasn't great. I heard good stuff about Twitter but I just can't hang in that platform for longer than 5 minutes.
Just by reading your list I had goosebumps -- having to do all that stuff (esp. the massive poop)
The satisfaction of being able to do it is priceless.
Today I was taking an Uber back home and the driver's son is playing U15 soccer (he's 12 and kicking the ass of 15 y/o's, so his son is doing very well -- he might turn pro one day). And his son also excels in schoolwork.
I have met plenty of rich, "successful" parents, but never have I seen someone so proud of his children. The 220'000 miles car he was driving didn't matter at all; in the end are you taking that to the afterlife?
He told me, "if I can give you one advice, is not to make money, or think about your own education, but rather see your children as your life project". It also changed my mind -- I often think of more ways to make more money for myself and my children. But I don't think it's for their benefit. They just want a dad to play, read them stories, and goof around.
がんばりましょう!
I just replaced my old DSLR with a new camera, just right before a long trip. I've taken great memories of my children, friends, and family with it. I thought about it for almost 2 years before buying it.
No candles, no fluff, no tracking, open source, extremely lightweight and minimalistic. Just BTC, Sats, USD and EUR.
Not only do they do but they're also dumb enough to not understand the math when it comes to Bitcoin.
We've been explaining to them that not only it performs better than the crap they bought, but hey, you also get some free, uncensorable freedom money that can change the future of humanity.
That's good to hear -- I also wonder it myself, I find it hard to believe that hunger just disappears, I think people probably mean that something else compensates for it. Just like I feel "amazing" while hiking, it's mostly that the breahtaking views and hormones and brain chemicals overtake the soreness, swelling of legs, and very often the unbearable heat and mosquitoes.
But "luckily" I have a lot of fat and weight to lose, so I'll try it myself after the holidays and see if it's true or not in my case.

I started at 12 hours many years ago. It felt very tough, but I was quite convinced that it is not natural to be eating all day. We had a dog whom only ate once a day and was mostly okay about it. I saw the same pattern in many bigger animals with fat deposits.
After that I transitioned quite easily to 16-8 Intermittent Fasting (eat for 8 hours, fast for 16), and once I reached 16, 22 was easy especially if I went on a hike while fasting and kept myself entertained.
I spend a lot of time at home, and we have children who often eat very different foods than I eat (you can't force broccoli and kale to kids), so fasting is the best option. Else I was eating what they eat and became fat very quickly.
I've heard so. But honestly 24 hours is quite easy for me, I do it often and feel very productive the whole time. Will try to do longer times as soon as December festivities and gatherings finish.
I've heard such is the case, but since it's december we have a lot of festivities and meetings with friends and family whom we haven't seen in a long time, so I need to keep it real and two days worked. I'm getting myself ready to see what I can achieve early next year.
Easiest way is for me in the beginning was to entertain myself with something that didn't let me reach food easily. Let's say going for a long bike ride, a hike, taking some workshop, etc.
Shukshma Vyayama. Every day. No excuse.
Was 85kg about two months back. This is by far my worst ever.
November was 83.5kg
December is 81.5kg
Goal is back to my lean 70kg weight. I used to look so good, and I want to look good again.
I am doing long fasts (between 16 and 24 hours) and cleaning my diet.
BTW how are you gonna tag us?
That's amazing to hear. Right after I wrote that my kids both got very sick (looked like a bacterial infection), as well as us. It's been almost two months of on-and-off battling it. I just thought about how the obstacles in life make us strong.
Hope we keep in touch and slowly grow our tiny little ones into young bitcoiners.
Impressive you didn't spill any soup. Related to this, I used to get bad stomachaches before I had kids if I ate almost any food except very clean food. Now I can eat literally any kind of street food, with my kids jumping on top of me, standing, under the rain. Nothing happens to me. I have no clue why this happened but my life is soo much better because of this.
Thanks for the report! <3 great to hear about safety -- this is such an important issue for many of us who saw crime and violence rise in less than a couple of decades.
Here are some things I learned the hard way.
Family > Bitcoin
Health > Bitcoin
Happiness > Bitcoin
Life > Bitcoin
Some people have the luxury to not have to care about a few of those things (for example if you're a 20-year-old in your basement, feel free to pull all nighters in the name of Bitcoin).
I have two kids, a loving wife, I am 40 years old, and have a lot of responsibilities. When I first learned about Bitcoin I was so shocked that I spent every extra second of my time in the name of Bitcoin. After 3 months and becoming overweight, I realized it was a poor idea.
BTW I did try to apply into bitcoin jobs and got a few interviews, even for high-profile positions. However as @anon said, the industry is very small and in the end they are just companies. These enterprises are composed of people who have the same issues as those who don't work for BTC companies, or I would dare say even worse as many get strapped with the volatility, and the supply is so much lower than the demand. They can afford to not care about their employees.
What did I do instead? I took a regular job at the fiat mine (which wasn't that hard to land), and then try to buy some sats with whatever I have left. I have a big family, but even if I can only buy a little bit here and there I'm happy. Consistency is key.
Call your dad! Bitcoin won't die until 2140 (lol j/k). We will.
