BIP 353: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/9cfe3a4a9021d893859af4517ab6cb6f5d6c387e/bip-0353.mediawiki
Looks interesting!
One small nit: it feels odd requiring login to view an article, why not let anonymous users pay an invoice to view the article instead? Yalls does this already.
I've been enjoying using the Zeus iOS beta, feels a lot faster using your own node than something like BlueWallet.
That said, BlueWallet is super slick, very well thought out UX.
To make sure I understand: you're suggesting hardware two-factor authentication for bitcoin/lightning apps?
E.g. if I signed into Stacker News, I'd be prompted to provide a two-factor authentication code?
There's nothing stopping bitcoin/lightning apps from implementing 2FA, I imagine it's pretty low on most roadmaps though.
If people want to secure their bitcoin they're better off using a hardware wallet than relying on 2FA in an app, wallet or otherwise.
The lightning network allows picobtc for fees, not just millisats.
To put that in perspective, millsats are
10^-8
of a bitcoin, while picobtc are 10^-12
of a bitcoin.SN is open source. You could fork it, ask/pay someone to add the features you require to it, and run a more general purpose alternative to SN.
I've seen this model work quite well for Lobsters. There are multiple sister sites with reasonable traffic, e.g. Le Journal du Hacker, which has similar content but in French.
There's support for a bit more, based on their documentation.
You can also add this meta tag to the
head
of your website: <meta name="lightning" content="lnurlp:you@lightning.address"/>
On Twitter (and other websites), my impression was you needed to add
⚡️you@lightning.address
, with the ⚡️ emoji prefix for it to parse correctly. It'd be awesome if Alby probed to determine if it was a lightning address instead of an email address though.
Although it's quite different, this reminds me a lot of Scuttlebutt, which uses a gossip protocol, but shares the same concept of relays for bootstrapping/propagating messages.
Would you prefer being able to connect via Tor? Sounds like LNPay.co could just proxy requests via Tor to hit your node.
There are ways to obfuscate your clearnet connection, without exposing your node directly, e.g. hiding it behind a VPN.
How does this compare to Unstoppable Domains, or Handshake?
I question the utility here, and really wish this were built on top of Bitcoin itself (if that's possible..)
Great work with this!
Looks like a nice alternative to Satdress / Bridgeaddr.
Are you planning to add support for a comments webhook of some kind? Bridgeaddr supports sending a webhook to produce a notification.
