Race is a social construct until you need an organ donation/transplant
It's not that I don't understand what you're getting it. I also think race is poorly categorized.

I agree, race is poorly categorized
ergo, racism is poorly defined

Race affects medical compatibility. There are many obstacles stopping organ donation between 'races'.
Do you remember the baseball player Rod Carew?
His daughter Michelle died at age 18 (rare cancer, could not find a matching donor)
For seven months, 18-year-old Michelle Carew battled against leukemia. Her doctors said she needed a bone-marrow transplant. There were 70,000 volunteers, but none had marrow to match hers.
One obstacle to finding a matching donor was her mixed ethnic background. Her father is black, with West Indian and Panamanian roots. Her mother is white, with Russian-Jewish roots. In addition, only 5 percent of registered donors are black.
