Here I go again....documenting the thoughts in my head in writing as it happens...
So I replied to someone on Nostr a couple days ago and I just re-read it and think it is something worth writing a bit more about....so here goes nothing :)
First a quick recap of the thread... American Hodl actually got it started with a post about feeling as though bitbonds are becoming the new junk bonds...then there was a reply from Bitcoin Zillennial which was in agreement and concluded with "sovereign individuals take their money and move to a different jurisdiction." to which I replied taking exception to the term "money" in Zillenial's response....
Which brings me to "Money vs. Bitcoin" and the rest of this post will hopefully help provide me "and hopefully you" some additional clarity on these terms....
As this is likely going to be a bit rambly here is the gist - We live in a world that is built upon "systems or networks" that allow us to communicate with each other. Or at least I think this is a pretty good "first principles" type of perspective...(and based on what I understand from Jesse Meyers' (Once in a species article) arguing that we really separated ourselves with our ability to communicate "value") from our earliest history the thing that separates us from other species is this communication and the "value" we communicate with it. Somewhere along the way in the history of human civilization we decided to call this "value" money and it has been that way until January 9, 2009.
OK - on with the rambly part -
In my humble opinion - these things have been inextricably tied to one another...until Bitcoin.
We live in a world of systems/networks....and we have a lot of them....think about all the systems we use that have rules....driving, talking, writing, building, flying, launching, shooting, eating, healing, singing, buying, selling, planting....we have developed systems for everything....and I don't believe these systems came from some deep feelings of wanting to control each other....rather from wanting to be successful and to share that information with others in order for them to be successful...the same goes for exchanging value! We had lots of problems to solve with value exchange systems...barter...didn't work so good, shells....didn't work so good....rocks...didn't work so good (you see where I am going with this)....we have just continued evolving/inventing/developing new and better ways to communicate value amongst ourselves over history and now we have Bitcoin....but before all we had was "money." Which was great for those in control of it and it was acceptable by everyone else as we didn't really have a choice in the matter - it worked better than anything else around and it is what we built our entire civilization upon until Bitcoin...so I am not mad at the powers that be for what they did...we all agreed to use it and did what we could with it....
I think it is important for us all to understand - we are all humans....we are all using the systems/networks that we have built up to this point in time as best we can to communicate to each other the "value" we can provide each other base upon the input we receive from external sources.... Those in power (at least up until Bitcoin came around) do the best they can to ensure their "network/system" is the dominate one....and they have tended to do so through the use of force. I mean that is kind of natures "method/system/network" approach to hierarchical controls.... (wolf or sheep - eat or be eaten?)....
At least until Bitcoin came around....now we have a method/system/network that links our two most important assets together (time and energy) and allows us to share that with anyone, anywhere, anytime....This is what I mean when I talk about communicating "value" to one another.... we can now share(or communicate) our "value" (time and energy) with anyone, anywhere, at anytime and no one can stop us (currently)....
This is my "everything".....this is my "Bitcoin".....this is my "network/system/method" for everything....and that changes everything.
More and more I am thinking about the world from a systems perspective and I am constantly finding myself having to consciously remind myself of the difference between the system I "lived and grew up in" and the system I am currently living in....which is currently a hybrid system of FIAT and Bitcoin....which I am working toward living in only the Bitcoin system....as Jeff Booth says - any of the time or energy we are spending in the FIAT system is at the expense of growing the Bitcoin one....
It is this idea that reminds me daily that we all have to continue working to build our Bitcoin system...whatever it is, whoever it is, no matter how insignificant you think you are....just talking about Bitcoin, learning about Bitcoin, hating Bitcoin, loving Bitcoin....the energy is injected and retained by those in/on the network :) The network benefits from it all -
Ok - I am stopping here - I am sure I will pick it up again.... I am happy to discuss with anyone, anything about this post - these thoughts....I didn't get nearly as deep as I hoped....I hope you all find some value in it.

+ a space before a line) it will make the reading a little easier, even for somewhat rambling posts.
