Yesterday, a giant flying bug found its way into my apartment. I tried, but failed, to figure out how it got in. I also failed to kill it. Today, it is gone. This implies that it comes and goes as it pleases. Maybe next time it shows up with friends. Who knows. Obviously, I need to buy a bigger gun.

There currently isn't a limit in consensus. Consolidation in the wild is mostly limited by policy ("filters", but let's not inflame.) Setting hard consensus limits is totally awesome, until of course you have someone that wants their BitVM thing to be 500kvB or a new lattice based signature scheme that needs 150kvB,... and you just softforked in 100kvB. Also note, enlarging would become a hard fork.

So yeah let's not?

I agree with you. But I've felt the whole op-return conversation lacked people proposing actual rule changes rather than just policy changes.

True. But the consensus rules are relaxed for a reason, especially post-satoshi as we've learned that you can only make validation more strict, but not less strict, when you want to honor forward compatibility - which has been the modus operandi since basically forever.

You cannot put that genie back in the bottle without becoming a hardforking shitcoin.

I’m technically free to explore Johor Bahru this June holidays, but the thought of braving the crowds and having to rush back to pick up my kids is a strong deterrent. So much so that the once-compulsive traveller has given up all hope of travelling to JB.

Decided to initiate lunch with my brother.

“Do you want to go to JB with Dad?” he suggested. “I can drive you there.”

“Hell yeah!” My mood instantly lifted.

This goes to show that as long as I yearn for something desperately enough, the Universe will provide.
