I have been getting strange replies from random accounts on Nostr that just reply with the same thing I posted.
I posted a pic of my daughter at her first baseball practice of the season with the caption “Let’s go 15” and got a reply from some random “guy” (I assume it’s not a guy but a bot) that posted the exact same thing. But it wasn’t a repost it was a reply that just had the exact same content.
Then I boosted @manlikekweks new song on fountain and it posted on Nostr because I have the accounts linked and I got another reply from some random “lady” (I assume it’s a bot) just posting the song too.
I looked through the replies of these accounts and this seems to be all they do.
I don’t really get the point of it. Is it a bot to try to and farm sats? Why would it just send me a reply with the same content I posted?
Anyone else have this issue recently?

It's a spammer, breaking whatever heuristics some of the relays use by replying with the same content (often with words reordered) that passed their filters originally (your content).

Thanks but what do they gain from this? Do they hope to get zaps or just be a nuisance?

Nuisance.

I've seen that kind of answer before, the same words just jumbled up and making no sense.

Yes, seen that as well.

Another reason why the nostr experience can be quite terrible at times

I prefer SN of course but I try to engage on Nostr as well. Hopefully we will get a few folks from over there to join us for the NFL Survivor pool this year.

As k00b says the bot spammers are well known now on Nostr,
Adding randomuser.me in muted words seems to block them
This attack comes after the replyguy instance last year if you remember it
