I’m from Nigeria. one of the world’s largest crypto using countries by volume. But the way we use Bitcoin is nothing like what the average Bitcoiner imagines.
You don’t just walk into a store and pay with Lightning or Bitcoin. You don’t buy coffee in sats or bitcoin You survive.
💡 Here’s How I Use Bitcoin:
I save Bitcoin, sometimes stake it or swap it for new tokens.
I earn Bitcoin and withdraw via Lightning to Binance, Bitget, or other exchanges.
I convert BTC to USDT, then sell USDT to trusted vendors via P2P.
Most people around me don’t even know what Lightning is I’m the only one in my circle who uses it. It’s early, but it works.
🚧 Real Challenges Here:
⚠️ Scams: people don’t trust crypto, because scammers ruined the name
😨 Fear: many are afraid to try due to lack of education
🔒 CBN bans: crypto is technically restricted; people trade quietly
❌ No reliable P2P Lightning: only centralized or risky options
🛠️ If I Could Build One Thing:
A universal crypto platform one app or site that lets you send, receive, save, and convert Bitcoin or USDT across borders, legally and securely.
Nigeria (and Africa) doesn’t need another altcoin. We need tools that actually work, follow protocols, and earn trust.
📢 My Message to the Bitcoin World:
“Bitcoin is not a scam. But the person you trust with it might be. Know the difference before you invest as Bitcoin is the future of money.” ⚡
🤝 Let’s Talk:
Why aren’t we building Lightning tools that work for this reality?
What would a real Bitcoin-native financial system in Africa look like?
Is anyone working on it?
