That’s certainly true and it’s not like there’s no gambling or betting involved.
The point of prediction markets is different than gambling, though, which is relevant here.
I totally agree. I’m mostly just commenting on how it’s presented which can affect perception

It will be a tough sell if we keep joking about being a bunch of degenerates.
That’s fun though, so I’d like to keep doing it.

I agree with @Undisciplined and @WeAreAllSatoshi. I will stop using the term bet or wager. Also no more Degens - it makes it less serious. I thought it was bringing in more fun culture - but I guess prediction markets must be more serious about these things especially like the markets above.
As you can tell I use AI to generate these markets announcements (I'm just not a good copywriter). I think it good at generating more click baits - but lack the seriousness especially in context with the above markets.

And thus my Degens' Meetup is ditched!
I too agree that saying betting or wager instead of predicting sounds like same as betting/gambling.
You can see even in my Degens' posts, I didn't use these words.
But to one specific stacker who I won't call names, will forever be a degen. ;)

The way I think about it, degens are an input to prediction markets, which themselves are an information service.
In a traditional casino/sportsbook, the information service is an input to the entertainment product of gambling.

So you are saying I'm allowed to continue the Degens' Meetup series.
TBH I forever knew that Degen as a word has a very lowly meaning having moral standards that have fallen to a very low level but somehow it fits as a slang in a positive way for the prediction markets.
I also believe a little bit of fun is necessary because if you extract all fun out of anything, it just doesn't survive or becomes completely dull.
Just to be clear, I found it fun, too. But to differentiate yourself, I think this is the right move
