This is less outlandish than most of these maps, but it's still inflated. What they seem to be showing is the median of household incomes, so it is at least a middle class number.

However, the middle class doesn't begin at the 50th percentile, so these should be taken as "Typical Middle Class Incomes", rather than minimums.
