The more people that use things that the state tries to make out to be criminal the harder their task. Normalizing privacy software by using it is way too underrated.
There is massive value in more people using GrapheneOS that don't really need it. At least in their minds. Same goes for things like VPNs, Tor, Signal, and of course bitcoin.

I don't think its too late. Not even close. I can see privacy tech taking off. Why?
I'm aware of a YouTuber called PewDiePie. Never seen any of his content but he is apparently influential. I don't know the whole story but he recently switched to Linux, is selfhosting Nextcloud and using GrapheneOS. He has influenced many people to consider these tools. We don't know the long term effects of this but this is my point.
If the masses shift even 10% towards a tech that is not known by most people it suddenly begins to be normalized. The script can get flipped real quick. And if people start getting persecuted for using tech but not actually doing anything wrong that will backfire on the state.
I'm so far away from being hopeless on this front.

This was inspiring to read. Good to remember that for many things, it's not nearly as hopeless as it seems. It doesn't take that much to make an impact, one domino topples another.

I think we need to have an adversarial mindset. We have to think like criminals. And I mean state actors as that is how I view them. We have to be hardened and prepared.
The problem I see is not nearly enough people have a firm foundation based in anything. We have our faith and the traditions that have been passed down to us.
More and more I think the core problems around us have been caused by a retreat of the church and people of faith from culture. It's on us. The moral decay around us is the absense of the light of the Gospel. We need to stop being ashamed of our heritage and the truth. The world is getting darker because our lights have grown dim.
We have to return to the way of Jesus and have boldness no matter what happens. I'm not trying to preach to everyone. Mostly myself.

This isn't about religion dude.
Plenty of people, to include agnostic ones, want privacy and privacy-tools as tools of healthy and better citizenship.
