In honor of @Car's recent hero slaying, we slay our bitcoin hero... @Car.

Will he see the light, have a change of heart, and decide it's worthwhile to support fellow Stackers and bitcoin entrepreneurs or will he keep supporting the heartless mega corporations relentlessly destroying freedom?

After slaying Car, we do talk about the territory, MLB all star game, NHL, NBA, cricket, soccer and more...and then slay Car a bit more at the end.

Happy listening guys!

Thank you for doing an amazing job running them.

Despite my horrible showing, I also enjoyed the contests.

That was awesome. Too bad he missed.

It's a more honest reflection of Marbury this way.

💯 To his credit he did launch the Starbury’s or attempted. Always appreciated that about him.

I don't remember those

Ya he was trying to prove he could sell $15 sneakers as an entry point to a catalog of other clothing items to accommodate the shoes at regular retail price the competition was selling for. It was unorthodox at the time. Lots of famous ballers made fun of him at the time because he turned down easy endorsement money from the big 4.

Ya I thought he made it too. Totally forgot Vlade made it on the other end.

Weird how will remember things playing out more whimsically or at least want that.

reply

You found it!

I forgot that he missed.

When you said I instantly remembered but I was like, I think it was a shot.

reply

Love you too, @Car!

reply

You are keeping our spotify metrics afloat. Haha

reply

Can’t wait to tune in during yard work

reply

Hope we only moderately disappoint

reply

It was good. A minor note: You guys start talking too early and it overlaps with the intro music, making you hard to hear

reply

That has to do with the Audacity editing feature. I need to figure out how to use it better so edits, cuts, music fades are more seamless. That's my bad. I just haven't gotten around to it and we have been playing around with the intro timing to try and cut off an automatic ad that the software places at the beginning which is making things worse.

reply

We're trying to get the timing of the intro down. There's an audio watermark from the free software we use right at the beginning and we want to cut it out, but so far it's been outsmarting us.

reply

At, that makes sense. I’m sure you’ll get it!

reply

Released just in time before my run.

reply

Are you going to make the extra 20k this month?

reply

Why so bearish? Bitcoin not stopping at 120k. I'm already at 74.2km this month and it's not even the 15th yet. I think I'm on pace to run 150km this month. I'm thinking of upping my game and push to 200km if the price calls for it. I am traveling to Taiwan near the end of the month though, but I'll try to still run in Taiwan.

I started using Runstr and joined @TheWildHustle's season challenge. Trying to win this thing and get the 30k sat 1st place prize.

reply

That's awesome. I'm glad Hustle's freaks are getting into it.

reply

Yea, got some fierce competition in there. I need to up my game if I want a chance at winning this thing.

reply

Wow!
Car's on the show?

reply

No @Undisciplined just spends some time trolling him for not using fountain.

reply

@Car insisted that we slay him if he steps out of line. I don't make the rules.

reply

interesting.
i recently deleted fountain because i found it was taking up an insane amount of storage on my phone.
yes.. yes... I know, 'the revolution will have bad ux'

reply

Fountain itself? I occasionally have to go through and delete old episodes, but I never noticed the app being too large.

reply

app data.
i didnt look too closely because i was pretty annoyed that my phone's storage was so bloated.
maybe it was my own fault.

reply

It definitely can use a lot of storage on your phone. Currently using 25G on my phone. By far the largest usage of any app. I just deleted all audio downloads and it dropped to 14G. Now I can add back whatever episodes I want.

reply

Hm, I wonder whether 14g isn't still too much for a podcasting app...

reply

Seems pretty reasonable.

howdy

reply

Are you here for the public shaming?

reply

i do love a good car slam

I'm in love with those AI videos. So damn funny. The baseball ones are hilarious as well. Best thing about these videos is that they are so wrong, but also so right at the same time.

Is the animation you guys were talking about Hero Ball? It's posted under the Bleacher Report account. I watch that too, it's pretty funny.

"I was actually already injured" Classic

I love calling it the Paul George finals.

reply

It's true. Paul George -> Sabonis -> Hali.
Also true, Paul George -> SGA + 2022 first round pick = JW.

reply

This looks cool but no it's a comedy central thing I was referring to. I will look it up and post one tomorrow.

SummarySummary

Podcast Summary: Episode 40 of a Sports Podcast on Fountain

Overview: In this episode, the hosts celebrate reaching their 40th episode and discuss their podcast's ranking as a top sports podcast on Fountain, briefly cracking the top 20. They engage in a lighthearted debate about naming their platform "Stacker News" and appreciate their listeners' support through zaps and comments. The episode covers a wide range of sports topics during a slow sports period, including soccer, cricket, baseball, basketball, and hockey, while also addressing community interactions and upcoming events.

Key Points:

  1. Podcast Milestones and Community Engagement:
    • The hosts thank their listeners for consistent support, except for a humorous jab at a listener named Carr for using Spotify instead of Fountain.
    • They mention Carr's appearance as their second guest and discuss potential future guests like Artvark for off-season episodes.
  2. Sports Discussion - Slow Season:
    • With the sports calendar in a lull, they note upcoming events like the baseball All-Star Game and trade deadline, and the start of football and other sports seasons in September.
    • They touch on personal performances in sports contests, particularly Carissons’ Club World Cup and Wimbledon contests, where one host is faring poorly.
  3. Soccer (Club World Cup and Euro Contests):
    • Discussion on the Club World Cup final between PSG and Chelsea, with PSG as the heavy favorite.
    • They appreciate the unique global competitiveness of soccer tournaments, contrasting it with other sports like basketball where top talent concentrates in one league (NBA).
    • They also discuss Euro football contests and their simplistic yet somewhat effective prediction strategies (e.g., always picking a 2-1 scoreline).
  4. Cricket (Major League Cricket):
    • The hosts express growing interest in Major League Cricket, despite initial struggles with understanding outcomes and betting on matches.
    • They mention unpredictable results, like the Mumbai Indians of New York reaching the championship despite earlier doubts, and discuss watching games on platforms like FanDuel.
  5. Baseball (All-Star Game and Home Run Derby):
    • Preview of the baseball All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, discussing participants like "Big Dumper" (Cal Raleigh) and changes in Derby rules (timed rounds with bonus time for long home runs).
    • They express disappointment over snubs like Juan Soto and George Springer not making the All-Star roster and discuss fantasy league updates.
    • A fun idea of using aluminum bats in the Derby is floated, though concerns about fan safety and legal liability are raised.
  6. Basketball (Summer League and NBA Updates):
    • Review of Summer League games, including the Toronto Raptors’ strong performance against the Chicago Bulls and the hyped matchup of Bronny James vs. Cooper Flagg.
    • They discuss Bronny’s decent start and Flagg’s aggressive play despite poor shooting, alongside potential NBA trades (LeBron to Warriors) and Devin Booker’s massive contract extension with Phoenix.
  7. Hockey (NHL and Olympics):
    • Talk about a recent NHL rule change to enforce a salary cap during playoffs, preventing teams from exploiting injured reserve (IR) loopholes as the Florida Panthers did.
    • Mention of NHL players being approved to participate in the next Olympics, clarifying it as an NHL/NHLPA agreement rather than an Olympic restriction.
  8. Miscellaneous and Closing:
    • They touch on various sports rules and roster management strategies across leagues (NFL IR, NBA roster caps, MLB playoff rosters).
    • The episode concludes with a preview of upcoming finals in soccer, cricket, and tennis (Wimbledon), and a tease of potential NFL preseason discussions next week.
    • A final call to listeners to engage on Fountain and a playful nudge at Carr to support Bitcoin platforms.

Tone and Style: The podcast maintains a casual, conversational tone with frequent humor and personal anecdotes. The hosts jump between topics fluidly, reflecting the slow sports season, and balance serious sports analysis with community shout-outs and lighthearted banter.

reply

Are these summaries accurate and helpful? Should I go ahead and summarize all the episodes?

reply

I think they're fun. The accuracy's pretty impressive.

reply

They are excellent.

reply

Flagg had a very good game last night.

reply

Apparently he is being shut down for the rest of summer league

reply

As much as I hate load management, I don't know why you'd play the number 1 pick in these games. It's not like the other starters are playing, so there's no chemistry building.

reply

One word: money

reply

The beginning is very hard to cut perfectly. Before next week's pod I need to play around with audacity and figure out what the smallest time span I can cut is so we can just make it easier and do a countdown rather than trying to guess. This time we bantered a bit and I could cut to right before you said "that should be long enough" or right at Stacker Sports podcast.

I am guessing it is around 3 seconds.

reply

We could do a ten second countdown and then wherever you cut in will just be the last few seconds.

We'll outsmart these machines, eventually.

reply

If it only allows cuts in 3 second increments then we would need to do a 9 second countdown. That's why I want to check the shortest cut time.

reply

I did some research. Apparently there is a way to make smaller cuts. I have to watch a tutorial. I will test with the current episode and if I can get the cuts finer we don't need to make any adjustment.

In honor of @Car’s recent hero takedown, we jokingly turn the tables and make him the target—our Bitcoin hero turned villain (for now 😄). Will he come around and back the little guys, or keep riding with the big corps crushing freedom?
After giving Car a hard time, we dive into the territory, MLB All-Star game, NHL, NBA, cricket, soccer, and yeah… we roast Car a bit more to wrap it up.
Enjoy the episode, folks!

Haha, what an episode! Love how you all roast @Car with both wit and heart. Hoping he sees the light soon and shifts that energy toward lifting up fellow Stackers and builders. Also appreciated the mix of sports talk—makes the territory feel even more alive. Keep slayin’, team!
