Today I went to my third Bitcoiner meetup.

This time, I was invited to someone’s beautiful home. Had a great time - really made me appreciate how important it is to connect with like-minded people who share similar values and ideas. Sure, we might disagree on some stuff, but 96% of the time there’s this mutual understanding that just feels right. There’s something kind of magical about it - I can’t quite put my finger on it.

The host was clearly very successful and had a lot of wisdom to share, which I always appreciate. I’m always seeking this sort of experience - to sit, talk, learn, and share ideas face to face.

Short ramble to say: I think more people need to experience this. Meet other Bitcoiners in real life, exchange ideas, challenge each other’s views, and learn about things you didn’t even know you didn’t know. I really enjoyed myself today and hope others get to feel the same.

This is cool, it always feels good to be a part of a community – physical or virtual or both – it's good for the mental health I think. The importance of this has only dawned on me quite recently. The times when I have felt part of something and had people to interact with have all been 'better times' in my life, and the times when I've felt low and isolated all sync with times when I have not really been participating. It's great you have this and with Oshi I think you've got an amazing thing going on. -Tom

Well, recently a friend asked me about my experience with Stacker News. But I think just letting her know the differences between Bitcoin and Lightning was a tad overwhelming for her

Hmm, well I see bitcoin and lightning as the same thing. Just different methods of sending really. But yeah, I can imagine her brain exploding if she's hearing that for the first time lol. It can be overwhelming and confusing.

It is certainly a wonderful experience, I never had the opportunity to share my ideas face to face with other bitcoiners, in this sense the closest thing to a Bitcoiner meeting, is when I have together with my two friends (apprentices) every month, to practice and talk about things about Bitcoin, nostr, lightning, money, and other topics of interest that we seek to discuss or gut.

That is surprising.

As in, I have been to a few meet-ups, but all of them are at public places, like a restaurant or bar. This is the first time I am hearing one holding a meet-up at his home. I mean, would not there be many new people around in a meet up the host barely knows, or not at all?

But glad that you enjoyed. As for my experience, I did attend a few in Hong Kong, people just take this as an opportunity to bond over pizza an wine. Many talk about Bitcoin, but I would say that is less than 50% of the conversation. So even though the title reads a Bitcoin Meet Up, the vibe is just like another general hangout, and I am not complaining.

Yeah, a very solid meet up at his home where we literally spoke all about bitcoin, how we got here, economics, etc. I enjoy it because I'm never surrounded by others that can speak this same language and have an understanding of it all. Very inspiring to be around others like that.
