I'm not a DHH fanboy. He has plenty. But in this interview he talks about things he got wrong and regrets. This doesn't fit the image many have of him as an arrogant asshole. When you are arrogant, the person that is hurt the most is yourself.

I really like DHH. I don't agree with him on some things he's said over the years but he doesn't either...

What I like is the guy speaks his mind in an age where we have two extremes. People that never speak truth (what they believe) and people that have zero filter and zero tact and are abrasive for its own sake.

I don't know many Danes but I think some of his personality comes from Danish culture. A few Danes I know are much more comfortable speaking plainly. I have a small sample size but I've heard this same stereotype from others. Maybe there is something to it.
