Howdy frens! š¤ š¦
Itās been a while! Iāve been totally wrapped up in my latest blog entry about the Gnosticsāso if you were wondering where Iāve been, thatās the culprit. Iām already on my way to write and illustrate another one, so stay tuned. But despite all the work, I finally carved out a little time for myself and headed to the movies with my husband⦠to see Jurassic World: Rebirth!
Funny thing is, the last time we went to the theatre together was for the previous Jurassic World release, so Iām starting to think itās becoming our little tradition.
As some of you already know, Iām a huge fan of the original Jurassic Park book, so obviously I had to go. And⦠well⦠it was okay.
sigh
Honestly, it felt like it couldāve been trimmed down a bit, and I really wanted more D. Rex and raptors action. Still, it just reminded me of what made me fall in love with the series to begin withāthe magic of the very first one (and even the second). That wonder and awe is hard to recapture; at this point, it feels like just a shadow of a shadow of what it once was.
But hey, I still love the world theyāre in. Dinosaurs are just endlessly cool. In case youāre as dino-obsessed as I am, I did a whole blog entry about how birds are reptiles and even painted some dinosaurs (maybe not exactly how youād expect, but still!).
If youāve watched the movie, what did you think? Yay, nay, or somewhere in between?
What really got me hyped lately, though, are these videos that stick closer to the books. They nail that eerie, unsettling vibe of visiting an island full of dinosaurs and the real horror that comes with it: this one and this other one were absolute chefās kiss.
Of course, if the movies were actually like this, itād probably scare off all the kidsāand parentsāand the franchise wouldnāt have the huge audience it does now. But a girl can dream.
But of course, Iād really want to know which one is your favorite? Let me know!
Godspeed.
