My class had breakfast with the school leaders this week, so as is customary of me, I tried to get my students to write simple thank-you messages. One boy stood out from the crowd because he wrote about sigma and aura. Apparently, in Gen Alpha lingo, sigma means cool, and aura means ego (but in a good way). I really feel happy that my street credibility has been boosted.
Learnt so much about the workings of the hydroponics farm in my school. Felt that my horizons have been broadened.
Realised that an ex-colleague had an upcoming interview with MOE next week, so took time out to call him and reveal my interview experience. In another life, I would have been a career consultant. Don’t think I would ever realise this aspiration, but it’s good that I get to satisfy this yearning in another sense.
I took my Foundation Science class to the Hall again this week to play a game, hoping that some of the facts would be etched in their minds. Honestly, given their rowdy nature and the fact that a lesser teacher would have shouted himself hoarse, I’m not so sure about their retention rates. Nonetheless, I’m quite proud of the way I have been churning out ideas to teach them Science alternatively (and hopefully, effectively).
