It is good to learn about some of the security issues with using an airgapped computer. I just think that this isn't the way.
I'd laugh if he bought stackers.news or something close and did the same trick.

I think that this is irrelevant to the behavior of nvk really. Security is not a popularity contest.
But because you tempt me and I suck at resisting: I think that it depends on value-at-stake, which hardware wallet, how you configure it, and I find it really hard to give meaningful generic advice. Coldcards are imho pretty well designed products and I own that 1, but it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. It's just a security product in the end and your risk profile and mitigations should define what hardware you use, not the mere availability of products.

I also own multiple iterations of Ledger and Trezor, and a Passport, which imho are inferior products for my personal usage, but I tested them to find that out. If you're going to do a comparison yourself, I'd recommend to reduce costs and skip Ledger - they've lied too much to be a reliable vendor in this space, so it no longer makes sense to use their products - it's an exclusive shitcoiner product for when nothing is at stake, imho. ↩
