We took a hike this morning on a notable mountain in western MA. I won't bore you with the pros and cons of hiking up a mountain with a 7-year old, but let's just say I'm exhausted. What should have taken 2 hours took 4 instead. Credit to anyone here who has develeped a good hiking habit with their kids! Beautiful location, which makes this a very popular and busy spot. Almost too busy at times. Here are a few photographs from the ascent and summit.

Keep bringing your kid to the mountains. It's great to experience the difficulties of the hike together and also share the reward of the view up top together. Keep them interested by stimulating their imagination with surrounding sceneries or play word games with them. They have more endurance and are more resilient than you probably think.

Thanks, it's not quite Pandora here but it is lovely.

Nice pictures! They bring back memories of when I used to take my kids hiking when they were younger. Now they’re teenagers and they don’t like to hike anymore. Good times enjoy them, they fly by.

Thanks for the reminder, it can be tough to savor these times but you are so right.

Hiking with a 7-year-old? That’s not exercise it’s an extreme endurance event with snack negotiations and sudden “emergency” rest stops every 20 feet 😂 Massive credit to you for making it to the summit and back with your sanity intact. Beautiful shots too almost makes me want to attempt it… almost.
