Quick TakeQuick Take

  • A statue honoring Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto was recovered by authorities in the Swiss city of Lugano after it was thrown in a nearby lake.
  • Satoshigallery, which has installed copies of the statue in El Salvador and Japan, had offered a .1 BTC reward for the statue’s return.
A Change.org petition was launched to request support from city officials to restore the statue. "The artist and his Satoshigallery will cover the costs of remaking and supplying the statue, provided it is displayed safely," a translation of the petition's statement reads. The petition was shared by Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino on X.

Damn, even statues aren't safe from FUD these days. Glad it was recovered Satoshi deserves better than a lakebed. Big respect to Satoshigallery for offering a reward; that's some solid Bitcoin spirit right there. Makes you wonder who threw it in and why… angry nocoiner? Drunk maxi? Either way, it’s kind of poetic even underwater, Satoshi rises. Now let's just hope it gets cleaned up and put back in place. It’s wild how symbolic this stuff gets. Bitcoin isn't just code anymore it's history, myth, culture. And clearly, some people are still trying to dunk on it… literally.
