I've been working on a piece for a while now, and while it is coming along, I'm a little sheepish because it doesn't have many links. I associate links with citations, with evidence, with backing up what I say, and the way this pieces is turning out it doesn't have anything to back it up except the reasoning of the argument itself. Feels kinda naked.
Does it mean there's a lot coming out of your own thought and reasoning? If so it makes it harder to find references and others that have touched similar points, but not impossible though.
Personally, I feel references are optional, especially if they have not contributed to create or inspired the piece itself. Feels funny to do the research work afterward, it might happen that you find references and change/improve the piece.
