Just for fun I ran a little test yesterday and bet $1 on every single MLB game. All moneyline bets.
Here was yesterday's post about it. #1068449
The results were as follows:
Astros- Winner- Payout $1.93 Tigers - Loser- Payout $0 Giants - Winner- Payout $1.72 Phillies - Winner- Payout $1.72 A's- Winner- Payout $2.16 Mets- Loser- Payout $0 Red Sox- Winner- Payout $1.41 Brewers- Winner- Payout $1.69 Cubs- Loser- Payout $0 Yankees- Loser (haha)- Payout $0 Blue Jays- Winner (of course)- Payout $1.43 Angels- Loser- Payout $0 Mariners- Winner- Payout $1.40 Padres- Winner- Payout $1.75 Dodgers- Winner- Payout $1.53
Total Payouts: $16.74 Total Bet: $15 Profit: $1.74
I hit 10/15 but only made $1.74 (an 11.6% return on "investment"). Ouch. I guess this wouldn't be too bad if I thought hitting 10/15 was highly repeatable (I don't).
I am not sure this is a very lucrative strategy but it was a hell of a lot of fun.
Let's go Week 1!
Sats for all, GR
At least you didn't lose money! I agree though, 10/15 feels hard to reproduce reliably. I am actually kinda concerned about the NFL one now, seeing this. Probably going to lose money

There were a couple times where I could have cashed out losers early when it was looking bad. That would have helped a bit but I wanted to play it straight up. That might be a decent strategy for NFL though. A's were down 7-2 in the 6th and I could have cashed out for .12 and there was another game where I could have cashed out for .26.

(1.116)^{162} = 52,674,391
Keep this up over the course of a 162 game season and you'll earn a 5 billion percent return!
