Scientists found that the artificial sweetener sucralose reduces the efficacy of certain cancer immunotherapies by influencing the microbiome and T-cell function. This was observed in mice and human cancer patients who showed a worse response to the therapy when their diet contained sucralose. This leaves several questions, e.g. does sucralose also affect the immune system of healthy individuals? What is the exact mechanism of action? Is there a dose-dependency?
