I might've said Rose if another team was drafting first, but my operating assumption is that if you just repeat the actual draft, then you also repeat the actual history.

Well, no, because Westbrook will go 2nd this time, which means the whole timeline is a little different. So, the league is different and events will play out differently.

The way I interpret these hypotheticals is that I'm the only one with knowledge of the future, not the whole league.
reply
I guess I never specified that, but we were initially thinking in terms of full redrafts where every team is privy to this future information.
The poll format just doesn't lend itself to a full redraft. Plus, there aren't usually more than a few memorable players, anyway.
reply
I suppose it makes more sense for whole league anyway. If I'm the only one with private information, the best move is actually to draft who the league perceives as best in the moment, then trade for the ones that were undervalued.

Assuming there's a consensus, at least amongst the early drafting teams. Yeah, the right answer is probably to trade back x places and then take the best player there.
Woah! Jordan over Love? Explain yourself.

It was a toss up. Never been much of a Love fan. He did have a few really great years. I also liked Lopez. It was pretty much a toss up between the 3 for me.

Love's one of my favorite role players ever and I've never been a DJ guy, so I didn't think it was close.
What about the headliners? Was Rose vs Westbrook a tough call?

Knowing what we know now makes it a tough call.

That is the point of the exercise.
They both played a physically reckless style, but we learned that Russ is built like a tank.
