Cool video. Although the idea you should just trade back is kind of a simplistic view. Not everyone wants to trade up or has the assets that fit your timeline. If everyone is trying to trade back the value you get in return will diminish and likely erode that surplus value. I would also argue that generally most of the bad trade ups are QB trades. Usually the team that trades up does ok as long as they aren’t mortgaging their entire future for a QB.
QBs are the biggest boom bust for sure but they are also the most marketable players so I would guess there is a lot of financial value in drafting one of the top QBs in the draft. Until he proves to be a bust of course but that’s someone else’s problem because if he is a bust you likely got fired anyways.

Even though the odds of whiffing on a QB are so high, the possibility of hitting is the only thing worth trading up for.
I posted this at the midway point, so he hadn't gotten to the extremely short-term thinking yet. Stacking resources through trading back only makes sense for GMs who will live to see the benefits.
