This week we head to Olympic Peninsula, where Olympic National Park is located, and visit Hold in the Wall near Rialto Beach. This is not to be confused with the other Hold in the Wall located on Vancouver Island in Canada #513131. This is more of a walk than a hike, as the whole path / trail is just walking along the beach by the sea. It is an easy 5km out-and-back walk with no elevation gain, but walking on loose pebble the entire way. We visited in May 2022, so the weather was still relatively cold and windy. The waves were pretty big on the day we visited. We eventually reach an area with lots of large rocks. There indeed was a big hole in one of the large stone wall. As we reached the hole, we saw many living things in tidepools on the rock surfaces. Kids had fun finding and observing wild sea/beach creatures.
Sign indicating that we were entering Olympic National Park
Driving to the parking lot. The trailhead starts at Rialto Beach.
We started walking towards the beach.
Pacific Ocean. The real deal "so damn big, other side is Asia" Pacific Ocean; not the narrow Strait of Georgia or tiny Howe Sound you usually see in my other posts.
We head north towards the far away rock walls.
A guy was trying to fish even with these big waves. Very dedicated. Hopefully he had some great catch!
We climbed the log and walked towards the end for fun. Wife snapped a pic when we reached the end.
We continued our walk. This beach is more of a fine pebble / rough sand beach. Not much fine sand here.
We were getting close to the rocks.
Looking back at the way we came.
We reached the rocks. The hole can be barely spotted at the large stone wall ahead.
Getting closer to the hole.
Interestingly shaped large rocks.
About to reach the hole.
Tidepools at the hole holds a lot of lives. Can you spot the hermit crab on top of the giant green anemone?
Mussels in another tidepool. Looks like there was some sort of sea snail in the pool as well.
Hole in the wall seen up close.
We grabbed a hermit crab to show the kids.
Walking back towards the parking lot.

Nice! I've never been to that part of the peninsula, the most northwestern tip. I agree Olympic Peninsula is a great place. It is absolutely beautiful! I also love it because it has a lot of land but very little population, so not crowded at all.
