At what point do you replace your hardware wallet by a newer one?
Hardware eventually dies and Software support vanishes.
What criteria do you apply in your setup? What are the oldest devices out there still in use by you?

Probaby when it stops working. I have some old Ledger Nano S's (which I stopped using years ago) that the display screen has become very faint.
I have a Jade and a Coldcard still going strong. I'd like to test out some other HWW like the Coldcard Q, Bitbox, Frostsnap or Bitkey. I probably won't buy one of these until something breaks in what I have.

Years ago I rotated out a Nano S before the support by the current software was discontinued. At that time I migrated the address format and therefore did it onchain.
Coldcard allows to create backup files to the SD card. Are those upwards compatible e.g. from MK2 to MK4? I guess using such a backup saves some time.
Does anyone have experience with that or can confirm that this works as expected.

For the sake of completeness: You can not restore a backup written with an older Coldcard/firmware on a newer device.
