This thing looks like it's trying to be everything...except self-custody. What is the use case where I'd want to use this rather than just using an foss wallet to create a new wallet?

Gift a newbie some bitcoin? Or lock bitcoin away so you don’t spend it. There are lots of use cases for a Bitcoin piggy bank. This isn’t a replacement for self-custody, which can be hard and isn’t right for everyone, or for every amount.

timelocks can be done with bitcoin as is.
gifting is an interesting use-case, but again, why not just create a wallet, send some btc to it, and then give your giftee the seed words?

Yep, you can still do that when fees are low, but it’s not as cool as sending an AI Piggy Bank, with easy-to-understand instructions, one-click claim. Also, on-chain Bitcoin will increasingly be used only for high-value transactions.

Okey doke. Who do you all see as your target audience? I'll admit I don't really see myself using it, but I'm curious who it's designed for.

Totally fair, and great question: Newcomers & gift-givers (gifting or onboarding friends and family), goal-based savers, creators & small communities (accept lightning tips and run quick crowdfunds without heavy setup). You can even use the free version of Piggy as a disposable lightning wallet.
Wow this looks cool. I ignored this post due to it being posted by an anon and an odd domain name but scrolling the site it looks really fun and engaging
