Absolutely agree on this. Get BTCMaps and buy from the shops near you.

What I've also been trying but haven't succeeded in yet is asking smaller merchants of food and coffee shops etc. if they'd consider accepting btc through their phone. But I don't have a good follow-up plan on how to set them up, plus I'm not a smooth marketing talker being able to convince them.
