pull down to refresh

Recently I was helping a new bitcoiner friend that is using Opera browser to use also Bitcoin extensions. But I was surprised that in Opera (even that is a chromium based browser) you cannot install for example Alby or nos2x extensions directly from Chrome WebStore extensions repository.
So how I was able to make Opera to work with Alby and nos2x, 2 of the essential browser extensions for a bitrcoiner ?
  1. In Opera, activate "Developer mode" in extension page.
  2. Install CRX Extension source viewer: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/extension-source-viewer/
  3. Open Chrome WebStore page and serch for Alby and nos2x:
  1. Click on CRX ext and select - Download zip (for each extension)
  2. Open the downloads folder and extract each zip into a specific folder
  3. Go to Opera Extension page and click on the top button "Load unpacked" and select the folder where you unpacked the zip of each extension
Done! You can click the Update button to refresh the extension repository and you will see that Alby and nos2x extensions are ready for you. Go and configure as usual both of them.
I hope this quick tutorial could help other bitcoiners too ! I found Opera browser quite OK for using it with bitcoin stuff. Anyways ALL browsers suck nowadays...
Weird. I just installed Alby and nos2x into Opera directly from Chrome store simply by clicking the "Add to Opera" button.

I'm using Brave which is also a chromium based browser. I did install my alby extension easily. Not to be a broken record but why not recommend another browser, I know preference matters.
reply
I do not recommend any browser. All are trash. Nowadays you have to use multiple browsers for each situation because websites are made by idiots. And I hate that.
Recommending a specific browser is just stupid.

I have a similar opinion, but I ended up using multiple profiles in Firefox and Chrome for work related things.
Do you have a preferred situation-browser list?
reply
No, I do not prefer any browser. Some things are working nice a week and after a while stop working from some bullshit update... so all your settings are a mess. Then again you have to go and find a way to use it in another browser. I am tired of this crap. And funny thing is that is getting worse and worse with all this crap AI coding for websites...

I understand. I basically don't tweak anything beyond bookmarks and at most 5 extensions precisely because of the time sink that maintenance is.
We decided higher computing power in laptops, desktops, and smartphones means we can bloat and shitcode everything, and now websites really make little sense.
reply
yep, a lot of bloating code on websites abusing at maximum their users patience...
Imagine SN with a lot of ads sidebars and bloated code LOL... So far SN is one of the cleanest news websites I saw and works perfect on any browser.

If you don't count fucking Safari yes, everything that works great everywhere is awful on Safari.

I think there is also a lot lazyness in programming websites. Perhaps, the idea of having sufficient horsepower made (most/some of) the developer become sloppy and rely on it instead of optimizing the code.
I guess we'll reach a point were it will be necessary to kill all websites and start from scratch.

funny thing is somebody must be voted in. I have never heard of anything/entity that is perfect. Most times I feel faults are perfections in the making.
