So, obviously there have been plenty of writings about the potential of Bitcoin to aid permissionless global transaction settlement, countering the dominance of USD (present global reserve currency).
But it is also clear that neither nation states (as in, the sovereign governments), neither supernational establishments (BIS, IMF, ECB etc.) will ever encourage such a shift, in fact, they will try to resist it as much as possible, with every tax authority, every regulatory body, every government bureaucrat, Harvard professor and central banker shill trying every possible trick to choke it.
So how likely is it to happen, realistically? Even if some private businesses, freelancers, remote workers, someone having a garage sell etc. realise the value of Bitcoin as a superior, permissionless money, can it still grow to become the global settlement layer facing the kind of institutional opposition? What will eventually force the institutions (especially countries like India and China which try to ban it) to bend their knees?
