You can do much the same using super cheap NFC stickers, which are way cooler than NFC, and without the need to steel the cards from hotels. Not that they don't charge enough for you to still a hundred cards from them per night spent without even making a dent on their profits, but still. :-)

Stick one on your clam shell phone and pay them with it, with no need of a smart phone. Or stick a transparent one on your writs and pay them with your watch, without even wearing one. Put one on the tip of your finger, touch their phone when making some concentration faces and pretend you're sending sats with your mind. Well, you get the point...
