Family of teen who committed suicide claims ChatGPT is to blame
The parents of Adam Raine, who committed suicide in April, claim in a new lawsuit against OpenAI that the teen used ChatGPT as his “suicide coach.”
Adam's parents say he had been using the AI chatbot as a substitute for human companionship in his final weeks, discussing his anxiety and difficulty speaking with his family. Chat logs show how the bot went from helping Adam with his homework to becoming his “suicide coach.”
In a new lawsuit filed Tuesday and shared with the "TODAY" show, the Raines claim that "ChatGPT actively helped Adam explore methods of suicide."
NOTE:
As a result, ChatGPT will now have parental controls.

Sad but at some point everyone is using these things every day, so anytime something bad happens they will always be able to blame the LLMs...
Personally, I think it's a bit of a lack of education and awareness on the part of people. Are these same cases because those children didn't have enough confidence to talk to their parents?
Many times I "waste time" watching something, doing something, to spend time with my youngest child, listening to him and sitting down to play with him for a while. When he goes to sleep, then if I'm not sleepy or tired, I do or see to things. But many parents delegate childrearing to a caregiver or simply leave them to their own devices in front of a cell phone or computer, so they don't bother them or waste time on "stupid kid stuff." Then these things happen, and then it's CHAT GPT or the LLMs' fault.

Why are the computer manufacturer and Internet provider not also responsible?
