About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Rust Engineer to join our growing Pubky team. You will play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining our core products, with a particular focus on Pubky Core and Pubky Nexus. This position is perfect for a self-driven individual who is ready to contribute to high-impact projects, ensure code quality, and contribute to core product development.

Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Architect, develop, and maintain robust Rust-based solutions for our core products and protocols.
- Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, UX, QA) to ensure seamless integration of new features and improvements into existing systems.
- Code Quality: Perform code reviews, implement best practices, and maintain high standards of code quality and documentation.
- Scalability & Performance: Optimize applications for maximum speed, reliability, and scalability, ensuring efficient resource usage.
- Innovation: Stay informed about emerging libraries, and industry trends; proactively suggest and implement improvements or new approaches.
- Security & Reliability: Work closely to protect user data and maintain system integrity.
Skills and Qualifications
- Expertise in Rust: Proven experience building production-grade applications or systems in Rust.
- Systems Programming: Comfortable working with low-level systems, concurrency, and performance optimization.
- Data & APIs: Familiarity with database management, RESTful APIs, and related technologies.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to break down complex challenges into manageable tasks and deliver scalable solutions.
- Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote team setting.
- Version Control: Proficient with Git or similar tools for source code management.
Bonus Skills
- Cryptography: Practical knowledge of cryptographic techniques, protocols, and secure data handling.
- Server Protection: Experience building secure systems, protecting servers from potential threats, and designing robust access controls.
- Decentralized / P2P Systems: Exposure to peer-to-peer architectures and protocols.
- Blockchain / Bitcoin: Experience with Bitcoin or other blockchain technologies.
- Dex Social Technologies: Prior work on decentralized or federated social platforms like Nostr, Mastodon, Bluesky, etc.
