Why will this event always remain in your mind?
I think something I'll always remember is my grandparents' 50th year wedding anniversary. The thing is, I was probably just a baby at the time, so I don't actually remember anything, I only remember it from the pictures.
But what struck me was how many people were gathered. All the children, grandchildren, cousins, etc, etc. My parents haven't hit their 50th year wedding anniversary yet, but part of me doubts it'll be that big---if only because they had fewer children, and then the extended family is much more spread out geographically.
It strikes me that a lot has changed in how much emphasis is placed on family and community, even in my parents' generation, and even worse for our generation

This read poignant because my dad comes from a large family and reunions are usually lively and boisterous (even if I sometimes don’t enjoy answering the same kind of questions to particularly pesky relatives haha). Then, my dad only has two sons, and I only have two children. My younger brother is children, so this means my children don’t benefit from the camaraderie of a large extended family
