In the top 5s, and ve only watched 'Game of Thrones'. I search for others and find different ratings for all. Breaking Bad is what I found to be on top of the most rating providers.
Then I found this commutative list, this really helps.
What do you say?
The Wire or Sopranos is what I view as the only legit options for first. Band of Brothers and Chernobyl are mini-series which I don't include as a TV show.
Game of Thrones was entertaining and caught a cultural moment as maybe the last collective watching experience before all the platforms fragmented and mass churned out content, resulting in everyone watching different things. Plus the ending was so garbage it's shocking to see it rated so highly.
That leaves Breaking Bad. It's good, don't get me wrong, however it's a numbers game. More people saw it due to being on A&E and included in most cable packages. The Wire or Sopranos were on HBO which was an extra cost at a time that cable packages reigned supreme and streaming did not exist. So simply less people saw it and then when it became more readily available via streaming, so many other viewing options existed.
The Wire is my personal choice, and it's unlike anything TV has ever produced. More akin to a novel than a show, and likely wouldn't work in current day due to our desire for instant gratification and requirement for tightly wrapped up stories.
reply
Agreed, The Wire for me
reply
First time I read this name, is it good? I'll look for it anyway.
reply
It's supposed to be one of the more realistic portrayals of policing and inner city America
reply
I think a lot goes to people's personal preferences. Some people might not like detective fiction, I'm one of them. Although I watch and like detective comedies like Lucifer or films like bad boys.
I'll definitely give Sopranos a go,, but first Breaking Bad, or maybe both together.
reply
You will love them both. The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad are not possible to watch passively. Watch one at a time only.

Dragonball is a must in this list. I agree with raking bad at the top. Mandalorian should be some positions upper too.
reply
Dragon Ball is one of the icons of my childhood and Breaking Bad is very good.

Freaks and Geeks getting some love at number 20!
Here's my impromptu top 5:
  1. Community
  2. Firefly
  3. It's Always Sunny
  4. Archer
  5. Star Trek (TNG through Enterprise)

Alright! Did you watch Game of Thrones?
reply
Yes. It was a remarkable cultural experience. Everyone was talking about it. Ultimately, it was hurt by the way it failed to deliver at the end.
I doubt I'll ever rewatch it, whereas I have and will rewatch my favorites many times.
reply
Nobody likes the ending, but Daenerys did in the end as part of her revenge couldn't be justified if she wasn't killed.
reply
Is it good? I haven't seen it yet.
reply
Breaking Bad is excellent.
But Braquo or La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) are in a league of their own and often overlooked as they are from Europe.
reply
I like Money Heist. I've only watched a few clips and liked the story line too much. It's definitely on my list I did search if I could watch it free, I found its on Netflix which I don't wanna pay for. Doesn't matter, I'll download it and watch pretty soon.
reply
It has a couple of spin offs on Netflix as well I think. Maybe don’t whistle the song it features anytime soon though….
I have no idea where to find Braquo where you are but if you like police detective shows it’s a winner.
reply
If Braquo has some comedy too, I'll love it. And don't worry I'll find it, I'm from India. There's no jail for for downloading foreign content for free, but I need it in English. Is it?
reply
It’s very, very dark humour. It’s gritty and French (with subtitles)
Anyway, you have the free time as there isn’t any decent cricket on till December now :D
reply
Haha, right. I'm still gasping why you didn't take part in CricZap Cricket Pool?
I like dark humour, and understand a bit of French. If I like the first episode, I may watch the whole even in French. No problem.

I have an injury that make it difficult for me to type (hence my infrequent posts)
Really enjoyed the England vs India Test. That last day though…
reply
No problem. We're just closing in this year on Halloween. See you on November 1st.
The Money Heist is incredible, I really recommend it.

I've been rewatching Breaking Bad the last few months. It's even better than I remember it. Makes sense that it is at the top.
I'm surprised at the relatively weak SciFi showing.
Battlestar Galactica remake was good. The Expanse wasn't bad. Sadly, most of the Star Wars TV shows have been pretty awful.
reply
Breaking Bad is next on my list. I watched Star Wars and I did feel it was largely boring.

Twin Peaks not in the top 5? The list is invalid. Sorry, I don't make the rules 🤷‍♂️
reply
Mr. Robot and Suits are two really great shows that were on the USA network
I can’t believe Parker Lewis can’t Lose or My Brother and Me didn’t make the cut!
GOO PUNCH!

Stargate SG1 is not listed?! This ranking has not value to my eyes.
There is not even Rick & Morty. And I guess The Office is the US one? Mehh.
reply
My vote is for The Wire
