I have been doing this for several years literally. Each time I come across an interesting event/tradition/custom, I record it on my phone. My goal is to enlighten my students every day about something interesting happening beyond the context they are familiar with.
Then, it struck me today that I could actually crowdsource for stuff using this platform. Hence, this post. Thank you for enlightening me in advance. ☺️

The day encourages students to embrace creativity, courage, and collaboration 24 Sep is National Punctuation Day 8 Oct is World Dyslexia Awareness Day 13 Oct is National Day of Failure for the Finns. It started in 2010 by some university students because they wanted to encourage more start-ups, given that the typical Finn abhors failure and won’t be inclined towards entrepreneurship 14 Oct is Railway Day in Japan 25 Oct is World Pasta Day 2 Nov is the Day of the Dead, or Dia de Los Muertos celebrated by the Mexicans. 11 Nov is Singles Day in China because that’s the date with the maximum number of ones 13 Nov is World Kindness Day. It was initiated by the World Kindness Movement, an organisation formed at a Tokyo Conference in 1997, when Japan brought together kindness organisations from various nations. 21 Nov is World Hello Day, which aims for us to say hello to at least ten people on that day. 23 Nov is Fibonacci Day.

I only learnt the word segue this year. It came up in a video featuring words that Singaporeans don’t know how to pronounce haha
