This is not by all means saying he is a dictator but more so a what-if situation if he were to just keep ruling for a long time.
Though I love all the moves that El Salvador has made and is planning to make so far with Bitcoin (as well as other things with gang crime) I was wondering if sentiment from the bitcoin community would change if he were to choose to stay for good.
One part of me is like great he is making, in my opinion, the best possible moves as far as the economic policy for his people and country that will pay off in the long run but then the other part of me is like you are not going to stay forever right?!?! Cause I think of true bitcoiners as humble people who don't let power get to their heads which would be a contradiction if he chose to overstay his welcome and continue to disobey their constitution.
Look. You need to understand. We support Bitcoin, not any humans. Everybody is shitty. Bitcoin is at least honest.
If some leader supports Bitcoin, we like that, not necessarily the person. Please try to stop being confused about this.
Hitler liked German shepherds. Does liking German shepherds mean you also like Hitler? No, not unless you're really really stupid.
Tucker Carlson is a total piece of shit. He supports Bitcoin. I don't give a fuck. The more people who use Bitcoin, the better. We don't need to screen out all the undesirables who might want to use Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is open. Stop trying to be divisive. Stop with the character assassinations.
reply
I don't think the op was being divisive. In your reply, you say " we support bitcoin, not any humans. Everybody is shitty." Then you accuse the op of character assassination?
reply
Everyone is shitty. We don't need specific examples. And OP absolutely was being divisive. "Bad guy uses your money" is a divisive argument.
reply
Stop character assassinations??? - Tucker Carlson is great. vs. I think Tucker Carlson is great. - One statement is confrontational and the other respectfully expresses my personal opinion. I think statements about "we do/are X" or "stop being confused" are totalitarian. There is no "singularity" for the flesh and blood human mind. I believe respectful instruction is a net benefit, while condescension and elitism are sour.

Feels what you are saying I understand how you saw that I was attacking him for his character but his character isn't my concern he is going to act the way he is going to act. Bitcoin doesn't care either way the next block will be mined. I think it's the adoption by other countries and the false advertising that El Salvador is the land of the free just because of legal tender. It would be stupid to say his actions don't affect the adoption of Bitcoin from a government level and the acceptance as a citizen by this example. So in your opinion would the community support Bukele if he is also contradicting its freedom ethos?
reply
Listen. I don't care what the fuck he does. It doesn't affect me.
I don't support him in any way. I like the fact that El Salvador uses Bitcoin as legal tender. Quit trying to read more into it and force your own bullshit. Fuck off.
reply
Bitcoin is for everyone, even for the people you don't like.
reply
Especially the people you don't like, particularly the ones putting NFT's in segregated witness.
It's rules, not rulers, remember?
reply
Bitcoin doesn't care, nor do I.
Whatever your agenda in posing this hypothetical, though many say he already is, armed soldiers in parliament for example, it doesn't matter.
Shit flinging critics are just the kind of chimpanzees we're trying to escape.
reply
I think just like anything its possible to disagree with one of Bukele's acts as leader of their government and agree with another. Dont over complicate it.
reply
False premise: I don't support him now, despite taking positive actions wrt Bitcoin.
reply
If there is one thing a politician wants more than bitcoin is use bitcoin as a path to stay in power... I don't anyone will succeed. Bitcoin make anyone equal power as the other.
