Because of all the drama, I'm adding another reason to this:

A potentially concerning reason would be a group of emotionally charged people who didn’t get their way with Bitcoin's direction on the datacarrier flag. They are willing to burn money and act against their economic interests to try to prove themselves right, at least in the short term.
