The Warriors with Durant went 16-1 in the NBA playoffs
Brady's Patriots had a perfect NFL season, until they lost the Super Bowl
Will we see a 16-0 NBA playoff sweep or a 20-0 NFL season first?

Gonna go with NBA playoff sweep.
  • It's fewer contests, so fewer ways for it to go wrong.
  • With a larger number of possessions and chances to score, I would think that NBA games have less variance in outcome compared to team quality.
  • Tom Brady was probably cheating 👀

I like the logic but @Undisciplined brought up a good point on the pod. To go 16-0 you are competing all against playoff teams whereas in the NFL an elite team might play in a weak division (which is 6 games of their schedule) and divisions get matched up against other divisions in scheduling so if their division happens to be matched up with other bad divisions that could account for another 8 games of playing average to bad teams. That’s a huge portion of the regular season schedule. Imagine if the Bills who play in a weak AFC East and were also faced up against the AFC South (bad division) and NFC South (bad division) that year. They could maybe only have a few tough games all year. Then if they are perfect throughout they will get the 1 seed which means a bye in the first round plus home field advantage throughout the playoffs until the Super Bowl.
The only issue is unless there is another elite team that could challenge them for first seed they might be inclined to start resting guy the last couple weeks of the season to make sure they stay healthy. Obviously that is not a factor in NBA playoffs. But NBA teams even if they had home court advantage all the way through would still have to play 8 road games against good teams to go 16-0.

I would guess NBA perfect playoff. in basketball, I think individuals can be so dominating in comparison to the teamwork required for an NFL team (so much, much more likely to have an injury or someone getting rest affect the outcome of the game). with that in mind too, basketball i think is trending to concentrate talent with the big market teams, moreso than football. So, i think its more likely some NBA superstars make a dream team on the lakers or warriors and sweep.

I think the biggest issue with the NBA playoffs is that it's really hard to beat the same team four times in a row. They make adjustments game to game and then they play with more desperation as they face elimination.

Totally agree with @Undisciplined. And I actually think the NBA is trending towards more parity now and we won't see superteams like we did in the past.

Time will tell (if ever) :)
i hope so, on the parity
