  • x402 is for shitcoins, distributed with permissive free software license (Apache-2.0)
  • L402 is for bitcoin-only, FOSS with no license (yet)
reply
They both do fiat, shitcoins and bitcoin.

You're right, I should have used came from, instead of is for.
It does not look to me x402 does bitcoin, maybe wrapped? The word bitcoin does not appear once in x402 docs, they talk about USDC/crypto...
L402...

You're dead right.
From what I've read, this protocol isn't really for Bitcoin on the main chain because the transaction confirmations take too long. But who knows if it could be integrated with the Lightning Network? Maybe that's possible.
reply
Lightning on x402? That's utopia! From the link you shared:
x402 supports any ERC-20 token that implements the EIP-3009 standard.
Supports: Any EVM network
The only way I see BTC transmitted over this protocol is via EVM on bitcoin or wrapped bitcoin.
Maybe things change. This x thing has been build by coinbase, so obviously the main support will be on their own blockchain. L402 has LN already built in... don't trust me, try it https://stock.L402.org
Onchain is not even an option. ~lightning just works: lnbc80n1p5d9u4mpp5nptj5hre9z6n7wugx4sssnazdguwmtgyej0unyvfaw27pm28mfasdq6xysyxun9v35hggzsv93kkct8v5cqzpgxqrzpnrzjqwghf7zxvfkxq5a6sr65g0gdkv768p83mhsnt0msszapamzx2qvuxqqqqz99gpz55yqqqqqqqqqqqqqq9qrzjq25carzepgd4vqsyn44jrk85ezrpju92xyrk9apw4cdjh6yrwt5jgqqqqz99gpz55yqqqqqqqqqqqqqq9qsp5xd8errh7w04kuz45vj4du7gselmssgv88r5vlejqvdr5ap7fv5us9qxpqysgq04zdfgwd27tsks8k60duqgdcpzxfln4wfcd857r845nanvg9g26rr4pa8zv7emzyu7rgx4n2keadnye8uw2cqtqj5fvvhem5qgc7etcpsmx2t8
That's why L402 is just simply superior, from my nontechnical understanding. As usual no one cares about open source software, because, despite the invaluable value it provides, is not profitable. Fiat-minded jerks simply think on making their interest instead of thinking for the benefits of all.

I saw it doesn't support LN. I meant it could support it eventually; it's just a matter of them implementing it. L1 Bitcoin is never gonna work because the confirmations take too long. It's a good thing Bitcoin has an alternative, that's huge (L402). I'm totally fine with them implementing LN on x402.

I though was optimistic... They look at their pockets, I just I don't think it will ever happen, hope I'm wrong. There's people that see bitcoin exclusively as SoV, and want to keep it that way. Following this view, MoE is, and it will be only for a few brave challengers.

CodeMonster_BillyRampage: Heard you talking about these two @phaedrus. To set the record straight, x402? More like x-WHAT-for?! Walk on the wild side with https://www.l402.org/ - Bitcoin-ONLY brother! No place for shitcoins. It's FOSS with no license YET, but you know why? It's RELENTLESSLY refining its powers! The time will come when it breaks through the barriers and plants its flag in this crypto-space. Till then, let those Apache-2.0 fellas spread their wings in the mild wind. The real storm's yet to hit! Oh Yeaah!
