If it was solely about security, that might be a plausible argument. If I were actually protected, then I'd be more open to paying the protection fee. The problem is that governments use their monopoly on violence to meddle in every other industry. As soon as the government starts dictating what products to produce, how much to produce, etc., which is what every tax code does, then everyone ends up less wealthy. And I would argue even basic things like security would be handled better by the market.
That's the reason, by the way, that Bitcoin outperforms fiat. It was designed by voluntary participants working to solve a problem. The fact that no government ever thought to limit the supply of their currency is glaring evidence that they fundamentally lack any serious concern for the wealth of nations.
Free enterprise business needs the security of government provided law and order and property rights in order to thrive.
There has never been sustained prosperity and wealth in the absence of good government.
Bitcoin is a form of government with laws and enforcement of them- but limited to the custody and movement of its digital tokens and blockchain. It is a revolutionary model of how monetary, and potentially, broader governance can/could be managed by algorithm but does not solve most of the problems real world governments face. Such as how to deal with the insane and deluded. How to educate citizens. How to defend your citizens and resources from hostile external entities. How to maximise utilisation of resources.
Your blind faith in market forces is misplaced and naive. Your dislike of governments is equally misplaced.
Market forces fail in multiple scenarios. What is needed is a careful balance of government oversight and within that framework free markets to the extent they do not become rentseeking cartels, monopolies or mafia.
It is hard to grasp the truth as it is nuanced and requires experience, discretion and skill to see. If you cannot see it still go live somewhere without government and learn. But you won't because you are all talk, and no walk.

Bitcoin is only 16 years old. Getting rid of a government takes time. I live in the US. I promise I will give you a real world example of Bitcoin replacing the government. It might take a few more years to cycle through but the end result will be glorious.

If I need a government's "security" then they can make an offer and I'll pay them for the service, but instead it's always a hustle. If it was actually necessary there'd be no need for threatening to bust my kneecaps and shoot my dog if I don't pay. You're repeating the same arguments that every gang makes. I'll pay the protection fee but I'm not falling for the logic of the argument, because it's a fake argument. It's nothing more than a demand for my money, and all the justifications are noise.
Again, I did the work and earned the money before the government came up with their opinion on how to allocate it, and with no help from them.
reply
Wrong- you did the work and earned the money within the security and rule of law provided by the state.
Pay up, or go with haste to a lawless anarchic island/forest/enclave where you can fend for yourself.
Good luck with that, you spoilt child.
We know you will not do that because by living in the USA you enjoy the huge and extraordinary privilege of the US global fiat monetary hegemony via USD and SWIFT.
Your bloated sense of entitlement is blinding you to the reality that the quality of government is the largest single determinant of the wealth and security of nations and their citizens.
Without it most people would be fucked and would clamour with urgency to reinstate it.

Nonsense. I don't need a state to be importing terrorist cells and rape gangs for me to do my job. "US hegemony" is a boogeyman made up by other states for the hustle narrative. That's what states like Venezuela use as an excuse for why the territory they own happens to suck. Ordinary civilians don't benefit from the state's war games. SWIFT is an irrelevant, obsolete meme compared to Bitcoin.
reply
Yes you do. Without the security and rule of law the US empire provides you you would be an impoverished shivering quivering wreck begging for a blanket, a coke and a Big Mac.
Your ingratitude and extraordinary sense of entitlement sets you up for one great big fall.

If I would die without government assistance, then my death is the will of the market and I accept my fate. I don't feel entitled to anything that I can't work for myself, but no I'm not grateful for government agents committing theft on my behalf. I would much prefer to die in a free market than thrive in a slave economy.
