You don't have to build a "personal dam" to mount a micro hydro.
ANY creek or small river can provide more than 1000W with a small turbine, 24/7, continuous 220V, without any battery crap. Solar? You need a lot of batteries and a lot of sun hours... That means also maintenance and battery replacement.
So yeah, if you have access to a small river, you can build a lot of miners, with free energy.
btw... I am building one, for myself.
Also when you say batteries it means somebody was doing hard work to dig up for those rare minerals to build the batteries. When those batteries are dead (mostly after 1 year) what you gonna do with them? On the other hand, hydro doesn't have any residual.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong. I’m not calling for the building of new solar, and am certainly no fan of rare earth batteries. I’m talking about converting communities that already have hundreds of thousands of solar homes into micro Bitcoin mines, and creating jobs for that among the depressed community next door. This many people just aren’t going to be able to go to the three rivers here and discretely set up an equivalent amount of turbines.

Sure. Where there is no option for hydro power, solar is the best. Not everybody is nearby a running water source.

That’s awesome!
