pull down to refresh

@Bitman - bonded over a common love for Japan. And he used to share this philosophical fable about the Sun, which has stayed with me till now. If you are reading this, mate, I hope your health is better now.

@Satosora - He worked in Taiwan before as a teacher, so it was fun swapping insights on education with him. Our children are of similar ages, so that’s another area we bonded over.

@handsome_latino - literally changed my view of parenting by sharing his superhero fatherhood tales. Reminds me to take challenges in my stride.

Who do you miss?

A few days ago I was going to say @jasonb but he's back and evolved into a clickbaiter now lol

My first question following cryogenic thawing: Is the experiment still ongoing?

reply

Indeed, you're currently set to win, as long as nobody else comments within the next 24 hours!

reply

@supertestnet.

Rumor is he left SN over cowboy credits, yet can be found on Nostr, a kakistocracy of ECash dilettantes and grift...

Lord see us through this darkness.

reply

Must be a bit weird seeing his presence on Nostr when he has all but disappeared from here

reply

Hahahah this is a good one! Hurt my heart to see super leave in the manner he did

reply

Definitely @Satosora's on my list. He was one of quick response stackers and it always felt like a nice casual chat.

I know they're not exactly completely gone, but I miss the glory days of @elvismercury and @Natalia.

@Natalia's posts were excellent

reply

More than that, she was a really fun presence

reply

@elvismercury led me to have a paradigm shift when he shared that adjectives can sometimes be considered weak writing. Since then, I have tried to use powerful nouns to convey my ideas

@Natalia’s tales in Turkey are always fun to read!

I miss @DarthCoin he’s still here he just ignores me now 😭 thought he would be really proud of me for being part of a full government shutdown 😭

you don't have to say your name, although give some hint narrower than "538"

reply

Never mind. Sensei is proud of you.

How’s the fire fighting?

reply

@nemo, @mallardshead, @Satosora, @Natalia are a few that come to mind. I don't count @davidw and @elvismercury as missing yet.

reply

I used to miss @nemo but now that he has been gone for so long, I have kinda forgotten the vibes he evoked in me. I only remember his habit of deleting his comments.

Speaking of which, I hope to see @carlosfandango more often!

reply

Deleting comments is no different to a conversation in real life….

Whispers on the breeze, Carried by restless wind, And leaving no trace.

And @nemo is around every once in a while.

reply

I should tag you randomly more often to jog your muse and get more personalised haikus

I have never interacted with supertestnet before. Seems that he impacted many Stackers here

reply

My heart longs for @Bell_curve and the massive amounts of links that @Rsync25 used to post

reply

@Bell_curve comes on n off. I’m sure he will grace us with a Wikipedia-like comment on some random thread sooner or later haha

I wasn't around for the prime days of @handsome_latino, but I really enjoyed what I did get to read from him, and all the cool tools he made to track bitcoin stats.

It’s amazing how multifaceted people are - and how different people are attracted to different facets of our personality

He was super consistent wrt that!

I’m sure he will come back when his baby grows up

reply

He orange pilled a couple of them, didn’t him?

Now that you mention it, I recall the conversations the three of us occasionally had about teaching. Always an energy booster

reply

@frostdragon a great the puzzle solver and founder of ~FiresidePhilosophy

reply

I admire how he put sats behind his conviction and paid one year’s worth of ownership for his then-territory

reply

I miss who are here! 🤠

reply

Gotta cherish what we have right now

reply

reply

@orthwyrm

A marvel of consistency (for the snail) and frequent intelligent comments (on economics)

And I hope he is still exercising… and ‘getting as big as a barn door’

reply

I remember the banter you guys always exchanged whenever the Saloon was opened!

reply

Great fun seeing who could post first.

‘Where snail?’ lol

Was assuming SN was still growing. This post gave me pause.

SN is, by almost any metric charted, not growing it appears:

But comments (green) remains strong. Fascinating.
